Is BG Remover free?

Yes. The cutout engine, the backgrounds, the refine brush and HD export are free, supported by ads, with a small watermark on exported images. Pro removes the watermark and the ads and unlocks 4K, scenes, blur, ID photos and batch.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Subject detection and every edit run on your device with Google ML Kit. The app has no backend and no account system, so your images are never transmitted.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes, once the segmentation model has been downloaded the first time. After that the whole pipeline works in airplane mode. Ads and purchases are the only parts that need a connection.
