BG Remover processes your photos entirely on your device. There is no server to upload them to, no account to create, and no cloud storage. This policy explains what that means in practice, and what limited data the app does collect to run ads, diagnose crashes and handle purchases.
The short version
- Your photos, cutouts and exports never leave your device.
- There is no account, no login and no cloud sync.
- The app cannot list or scan your photo library — it only receives the single photo you pick.
- Anonymous analytics and crash reports are collected to keep the app working.
- Ads are served by Google AdMob, with the consent choice you make on first launch.
- Purchases go through Google Play and RevenueCat; we never see your payment details.
Who is responsible
BG Remover is published by CodeurDivoire. For any question about this policy or about your data, write to support@bgremover.app.
Your photos
Subject detection, background replacement, mask editing and export all run locally, on the processor of your phone. The app has no backend: no image, no mask and no export is ever transmitted to us or to a third party.
Photos enter the app one at a time through the Android system picker or the share sheet, which grants access to that single file. The app does not request — and actively blocks — the Android permissions that would let it read your photo library. Exports are written through the Android media store, which is what makes them appear in your gallery.
The subject-detection model is provided by Google Play services on your device. It is downloaded once and then runs offline; the photo you are editing is not sent anywhere as part of that process.
What the app does collect
Usage analytics
Firebase Analytics records anonymous events — screens opened, a cutout finished, an export saved — so we can see which features are used and which are ignored. These events carry no photo, no file name and no personal identifier you have given us.
Crash diagnostics
Firebase Crashlytics records the technical details of a crash or a handled error: device model, Android version, app version and a stack trace. It is what turns “the app closed” into a bug we can actually fix.
Advertising
Google AdMob serves the banner, interstitial and rewarded ads in the free version. Depending on your consent choice and your region, AdMob may use your advertising identifier and technical data about your device to select ads.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Google Play and their status is managed through RevenueCat, which stores an anonymous identifier and the state of your entitlement. Neither we nor RevenueCat ever receive your card details — Google Play handles payment end to end.
Local settings
Your preferences, your project library and your entitlement state are stored on the device only. The entitlement store is encrypted, and none of these files are included in Android cloud backup.
Ads and your consent
On first launch the app asks for your advertising consent through Google’s User Messaging Platform. No ad is requested before you answer. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland this covers personalised advertising and the vendors involved; elsewhere the same screen may offer different options depending on local rules.
You can change your choice at any time in Settings → Advertising privacy options. Going Pro removes ads entirely.
Permissions the app asks for
- Camera — only if you choose to take a new photo inside the app.
- Notifications — only if you turn on the reminder for unfinished projects.
- Internet — for ads, purchases and the one-time model download.
The app does not request photo or media read permissions, and does not request your location, contacts, microphone or precise identifiers.
Storage, retention and deletion
Projects — the source photo, its mask and a thumbnail — are stored in the app’s private folder on your device. They stay there until you delete the project, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app. Deleting a project deletes its files.
Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored locally. Analytics and crash data already collected are retained by Google under its own retention schedule.
Children
BG Remover is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country) and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, contact us and we will act on it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export the data held about you, to object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Because the app holds no account, most of your data is either on your device — under your direct control — or anonymous telemetry held by Google.
To exercise a right, or to complain, write to support@bgremover.app. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Third parties and international transfers
The services the app relies on — Google Play services, Firebase, AdMob and RevenueCat — may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States, under their own privacy policies and transfer safeguards.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and a significant change will be announced in the app.
