How to make white-background product photos with your phone

Updated · By CodeurDivoire

In short

Photograph the product in soft, even light, then open the photo in BG Remover: the background is removed on the phone, and the E-commerce quick style puts the product on pure white (#FFFFFF) with a soft shadow. For a whole catalogue, batch processing cuts out up to 30 photos in one run with the same background and a square 1:1 canvas, then saves them all to your gallery at once.

Make white-background product photos on Android

  1. 1

    Shoot in soft, even light

Window daylight or an overcast sky, the product in focus and filling most of the frame. A plain backdrop that contrasts with the product gives the cleanest cutout.

  2. 2

Choose one photo or a batch

For a single product, tap New image. For a series, open Batch processing and select up to 30 photos.

  3. 3

    Put the product on white

In the editor, apply the E-commerce quick style or choose white in Background. In a batch, White is the default shared background.

  4. 4

    Use a square canvas

Marketplaces show square thumbnails, so a 1:1 canvas — the batch default — lines every listing up.

  5. 5

    Adjust individual photos

In a batch, tap any photo to give it its own background, canvas or framing without touching the others.

  6. 6

    Export

JPG for listings, PNG if you need transparency for a design. HD (2160 px) is comfortably above what marketplaces ask for. Save the whole batch in one tap.

Why a white background

A plain white background removes distractions, makes a set of listings look consistent, and is the rule on some marketplaces: Amazon, for example, requires a pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255) for a product’s main image. Even where it is not required, one consistent background across a shop reads as professional.

Shooting tips that make the cutout better

  • Contrast: a light product on a darker backdrop, or the opposite.
  • No flash and no hard shadows — they blur the line between product and background.
  • Leave a margin around the product so no edge touches the frame.
  • Shoot straight on, at the product’s height, for a natural catalogue look.
  • Glass and shiny objects: shoot them against a contrasting backdrop so their outline stays visible, then check the edge in Refine.

Beyond white: lifestyle shots

For social posts, banners or a shop’s home page, a studio scene — grey studio, warm beige, blurred office, brick wall, nature, night bokeh — or a gradient gives the product some context without a photo shoot.

Questions

How do I unlock batch processing?

Go Pro, or watch a short ad to unlock it for a while — no subscription needed.

What size should product photos be?

Most marketplaces ask for at least 1000 px on the longest side so buyers can zoom, and several recommend 1600–2000 px. HD export (2160 px) covers all of them.

Will the product keep its real colours?

Yes. Only the background changes; every pixel of the product comes from your original photo.

Can I add a shadow under the product?

Yes. The E-commerce quick style adds a soft shadow, and the Effects panel lets you change it or remove it.
